VGP – The Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security (MPS) and the US Homeland Security have agreed to upgrade the cooperative relations in security, police and home affairs as part of efforts to strengthen the two nations’ Comprehensive Partnership.
Minister of the MPS Tran Dai Quang on March 17 held talks with US Secretary of Homeland Security Charles Johnson in Washington D.C.
The two sides hailed the development in the two agencies’ cooperation in exchanging information, and experience in preventing and controlling crimes, especially trans-national and high-tech crimes and human trafficking.
They agreed to maintain current mechanisms, negotiate to sign cooperation documents to establish a legal framework on crime prevention such as a convict extradition, transfer agreement and an agreement on preventing money laundering.
On this occasion, Minister Quang met with Senator John McCain, Senator Harold Johnson and Assistant Attorney General for the Criminal Division Leslie R. Caldwell.
