The Ho Chi Minh City Police have released details of their success combatting a large-scale drug trafficking ring in the city.

The investigation centered on a known dangerous criminal, Vo Quang Vu, 36 from Quang Ngai province and was residing at the Hoang Hac Hotel in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. Vu had previously served 18 years in prison for illegally trading drugs and another four years for theft.

In the afternoon of March 17th, Vu was arrested on his motorbike having just left the Hoang Hac Hotel. The police seized 600 grams of crystal methamphetamine in his motorbike. Before the undeniable evidence, Vu admitted his guilt.

On further searching Vu’s room in the hotel, the police seized a revolver with nine bullets. Further investigation led the police to arrest some of Vu’s accomplices and to a search of Nguyen Thi Ngoc Suong’s home in District 4, where they seized an additional revolver and a pistol.

According to Vu’s statement, after getting out of prison in early 2014, Vu went to Cambodia to meet leaders of drug trafficking rings there to buy drugs to resell to other rings and drug users in Ho Chi Minh City.

After that, he was acquainted with Suong and the two people established a drug and weapon trafficking ring.

The case is under further investigation./.
