Thailand to push Digital Economy to industry sector

Thailand’s Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (MICT) has joined hands with the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) to push forward the Digital Economy policy to the industrial sector.


The MICT Permanent-Secretary Methini Thepmani has revealed that the MICT has discussed with the FTI the promotion of the Digital Economy policy in the industrial sector. Both organizations will push for concrete results and will encourage SMEs in e-Business and Supply Chain management to increase their competitiveness in the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).


Approximately 3,000 business owners are expected to join the e-Business promotion plan, while the technological utilization will help entrepreneurs to increase efficiency, reduce operation costs, and provide new marketing channels.


On the promotion of Digital Economy, the MICT Permanent-Secretary said that the MICT will provide support to new entrepreneurs, promote commerce and industrial innovations, adjust the investment format in digital business, and introduce new markets in the digital contents.


The MICT’s Digital Economy Promotion comprises of four aspects, including Digital Commerce, Digital Entrepreneur, Digital Innovation, and Digital Content.


Meanwhile, the national Digital Economy and Society strategy comprises of an inclusive digital infrastructure, the use of technology to raise the quality of life, the encouragement of digital entrepreneurs as the main force for national productivity, the increase of business competitiveness by digital technology, the increase of confidence in users and workers in digital economy system, the improvement of human resources and education through digital technology. This will allow Thailand to become the destination for digital investments, and the improvement of the domestic ICT readiness will raise the nation’s international competitiveness.-VN/NNT
