Child patients receive gifts on International Children’s Day

Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan has visited and presented gifts for cancer child patients at the Paediatrics Department of the Tan Trieu-based cancer hospital (K hospital), Hanoi, on the occasion of International Children’s Day (June 1).

The Vice President and officials from the Ministries of Health, Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs delivered 70 gifts to the unfortunate young patients who are being treated at the hospital, each worth over 2 million VND.

She affirmed that the Vietnamese State and ministers will do their utmost to provide full treatment for the children.

She also hailed efforts by the health sector and hopes the medical staff will exert more efforts to help the children overcome the disease.

A myriad of activities to support children, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, have been held nationwide on this occasion.

A special art programme was held at the Hanoi Children Palace on May 31 to entertain children with an aerobics performance and a fashion show.

Elsewhere, a festival providing parents with knowledge to take care of their sons and daughters was held at the 23-9 Park in Ho Chi Minh City.

Meanwhile, the northern province of Ninh Binh organised a number of activities to equip children, particularly those from ethnic minority groups, with necessary skills for self-protection against social dangers.

The Central Highlands province of Gia Lai and the southern province of Binh Duong on June 1 launched an official Action Month with the message of no violence and no harm to children.

The same day, local authorities from northern Ha Nam province gave over 48,000 young children drinks containing Vitamin A.-VNA
