(VOVworld) – The Association of Secretaries General of Parliaments (ASGP) convened 4 meetings as part of IPU 132 in Hanoi.
Nguyen Hanh Phuc, head of the National Assembly Office, told the Voice of Vietnam that the Vietnamese National Assembly wants to seek a more effective support agency model through the Association of Secretaries General of Parliaments: “The 2013 Constitution contains revisions to the Law on the Organization of the National Assembly, including a model of the National Assembly Secretary General. According to this model, the National Assembly has a Secretary General and National Assembly agencies support him. The Secretary General is the head of the National Assembly Office. It is important now to prevent the functions of the Secretary General, the Secretariat, and the National Assembly Office from overlapping. It is also crucial to enhance the role of the Secretary General and the Secretariat to better support the National Assembly and its Standing Committee. IPU 132 is an opportunity for Vietnam to learn from the models of other countries.”
