An experience sharing workshop entitled “Building a model of low-carbon industrial park: Solutions and policy support” was held in Hanoi. This activity is within the framework of the project “Building a model to support the Vietnam businesses to follow low carbon orientation – a pilot study in Da Nang”.
The project which is sponsored by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs has been implemented in the period 2012-2015. The initial results of the project has contributed to cut down 1.6 thousand tons of CO2 emission for one industrial zone in Da Nang.
Accoridng to Mr Nguyen Dinh Anh – Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Natural Resources and Environment said the project is quite new. It is the first time combining a research agency with state management agencies and local businesses in the field of climate change. The inventory of greenhouse gases emission has been implemented at the national level, however this is the first time GHG for a specific object like a business or an industrial zone has been calculated successfully. This project will help the businesses raise awareness about reducing greenhouse gas emissions and cutting measures.
