(VOV) – Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities (HCMUSSH) on March 10 announced its decision to establish the faculty of Korean studies, the first of its kind in Vietnam.
Principal of the HCMUSSH Vo Van Sen said Korean studies was formerly a subject included in the Oriental Studies Faculty. Mr Sen said over the years, the sector has trained about 2,000 students to supply human resources to several Korean businesses in Vietnam. Particularly, many alumni have worked in trans-national companies and corporations in the Republic of Korea (RoK) and South East Asian nations.
The faculty of Korean studies has four major subjects, namely Korean language, Korean culture and society, Korean economics, politics and diplomacy, and Korean studies E-school.
Apart from these subjects, the faculty also has a Korean studies coordination centre. Associate Professor Phan Thi Thu Hien is now Head of the faculty.
